The Craven & District Football League has received a big boost with the announcement that Mastab’s will continue their sponsorship for a further year.

The news was given to club when the league held its annual meeting at Skipton Rugby Club last week.

Five teams have resigned from the league but five new clubs have been admitted to replace them.

Salts FC, Ilkley Town, Broomhill, Polonia Patson and Northern FC will all make their bows in the 2013-14 season.

Despite much debate about the composition of the league the task was left to the management committee.

They have opted for the following structure.

Premier Division (10 teams): Skipton LMS, Rolls, Grindleton, Trawden Celtic, Cross Hills, Cowling, Embsay, Carleton, Wilsden, Cononley.

Division One (10 teams): Grassington Unted, Gargrave, Earby Town, Pendle FC, Chatburn, Settle United, Hellifield, Silsden White Star, Embsay Res, Pendle Renegades.

Division Two (11 teams): Rolls Res, Skipton Town, AFC Colne, Bradley, Gargave Res, Bingley Town, Earby Town Res, Ingrow & Worth, Skipton LMS Res, Cononley Res, Cross Hills Res.

League chairman Gerry Aldersley stressed the importance of sponsorship to the league’s finance .

He thanked Mastab’s, Paul Watson who has sponsored the Northern Plant Hire Trophy for 20 years, and Ian Senior of SK Kits who has sponsored the fair play awards and match balls for cup finals.

The chairman went on to thank the retiring officers and management committee for their devoted service during the past season.

All the retiring officers and management committee were re-elected for season 2013/2014 with the exception of the registration secretary who had resigned mid season due to work commitments.

There had been many appeals, in the press and in person to recruit new members to the management committee but this all fell on deaf ears.

The chairman asked those present to step up to the plate but once again only one person showed any interest.

There had been more success in trying to recruit a new registration secretary and Rebecca Parker was appointed by the management committee after the annual meeting was concluded.
