Silsden 1 Runcorn Linnets 1
A point from a draw against leaders Runcorn Linnets at the Angel Telecom Stadium last night all but secured Silsden’s place in the North West Counties top tier.
The Linnets were looking to extend their advantage over Norton United, who the Cobbydalers lost 2-0 at on Saturday. However, they came up against a spirited and determined home side and needed a dramatic late equaliser to avoid a defeat.
The visitors bossed the chance count in the goalless first half but Silsden broke the deadlock in the 76th minute when Danny Fagan got his head to a long-range Andy Hill free-kick.
The Linnets snatched a draw three minutes into stoppage time when Matt Atherton scrambled the ball in following a corner.
