Stockport Sports 1, Silsden 3

SILSDEN registered their first North West Counties League victory since September with a comfortable Premier Division success at struggling Stockport Sports.

The Cobbydalers were third in the table after that last win but had tumbled 11 places prior to their weekend outing, which saw them climb back up to tenth.

They showed great determination to recover from a goal down after Stockport had taken a first-half lead.

Silsden thought they had gone ahead midway through the first half when Josh McNulty slid in to convert a Zack Dale cross, only for the celebrations to be cut short by an offside flag.

The hosts then broke the deadlock from the penalty spot. Ben Crabtree was shepherding Jay Mehemet away from goal when keeper Danny Thorpe came out and fouled the striker. He was then beaten by Ryan Humphrey's spot-kick.

The comeback began in the 57th minute when Kevin Ryan headed home from a Dale corner. Two minutes later the Cobbydalers were in front as Joe Jalil pulled the ball back and Chris Wademen volleyed in.

Thorpe was called into action to preserve that advantage with a smart double save after Jalil had let the home side in with a short backpass.

But Silsden sealed the three points when Dale took a through-ball from substitute Dale Feather and slotted in by the foot of the post.
