THE surprise result of the day was Gargrave's 5-2 win at Bentham in the Craven FA Challenge Cup.

Gargrave, who are struggling with a small squad, took an early lead through Jamie Poulter and although the home team equalised, Poulter , Thomas Varey and Christian Moon made it 4-1 by half-time.

Liam Binney scored a fifth from the penalty spot before Bentham scored their second goal. Daniel Thompson and Gary Lofthouse were resolute in defence.

Carleton snatched a late winner to edge out Hellifield 4-3. Hellifield took the lead through Dale Denham but Robert Bradley levelled matters and a Stuart Gee gave Carleton the lead with a penalty.

Matthew Beckwith made it 2-1 but Teal's second goal restored Carleton's lead. Back again came Hellifield through Denham before Teal came up with the winner and completed his hat-trick.

The West Craven derby between Earby Town and Pendle Renegades was hard fought, with the visitors winning 4-2 thanks to a hat-trick from Jake Palmer and a goal by substitute Jake Greenbank. Gavin Garbutt netted both Earby goals.

Settle United’s 8-0 victory the previous week at Cononley Sports must have expected an easy time. Their opponents, under the guidance of a new manager, were rejuvenated and were unlucky to lose 2-1.

Craig Donegan gave the home side the lead with a glorious goal, only for Elliot Firth to level the scores with a powerful header. Dave Worthington rattled the Cononley crossbar before Lee Walker’s curling effort proved to be the winner.

Grassington United did not do themselves justice in a disappointing 3-0 defeat at Ingleton whose scorers were Towers, China and Earnshaw.

Rolls travelled into Cumbria and defeated Sedbergh 5-1. A 40- yard shot from Jonothan McGeachie was the highlight of the day, with the other goals coming from Cockcroft(2), Harrison and Blacklock.

Skipton Town were up without a recognised goalkeeper for their 11-1 defeat by Waddington. Sub Dominic Rankin scored Town's solitary goal.

A repeat of last year’s Norman Pratt Trophy final between Rolls and Ingleton once again saw the more experienced Rolls side come out on top 7-3 .

A flowing game saw Rolls leading 4-1 at the break and Ingleton scoring a good goal and being thwarted by good goalkeeping.

After the break Rolls clinical finishing resulted in three further goals but credit to Ingleton they kept trying and were rewarded with two late goals. Danny Murray(2) and James Lund were on target while Damon Clark (3), Gaskell, McDowell, Grant and Brown netting the Rolls goals.

Grassington recorded a 3-1 win against Cononley Sports with all their goals coming in the first half.

Waddington beat Pendle Renegades 3-2 on penalties after a 3-3 draw.

Settle United missed a penalty as they lost 3-2 to Rimington. Tom Strickland netted both Settle goals while Collinge, Blackburn and Haythornthwaite. were the Rimingtom marksmen.
