West Riding County Amateur League First Division: Steeton Reserves 3 DRAM Community 5

STEETON Reserves trailed twice but led 3-2 in an entertaining game and were trying to make it 4-4 when they conceded a fifth goal with less than three minutes left.

The visitors started the day second in the First Division table but ended it leading it, only goalkeeper Harry Jarman and some smart defending preventing DRAM from taking an early lead.

The deadlock was broken after 15 minutes when Jarman was beaten to the ball on the edge of the area, Craig Thompson curling the ball into the net.

An equaliser came two minutes later from a free-kick, which was parried by the goalkeeper straight into the path of Graham Holmes, who rammed the ball home.

Steeton had one more chance before the interval when a first-time strike by Jamie Longley from Harry McGowan's superb pass went inches wide.

DRAM scored after less than a minute into the second half after fine interplay down the right resulted in a blistering 15-yard shot by Thompson.

But again an equaliser was not long in coming, a free-kick from the left touchline being met perfectly by centre back Kyle Fox, whose header looped into the net.

Just two minutes later, Steeton took the lead in almost identical circumstances, though this time the header was by Josh Brooksbank, usually a goalkeeper, who was wearing the No 4 shirt.

The advantage lasted only four minutes, however, a hopeful lob by Thompson catching Jarman off his line and completing the DRAM player's hat-trick.

The visitors retook the lead after 67 minutes when a direct free-kick from about 25 yards was smartly saved by Jarman, the rebound falling to striker Chris Milby, who poked the ball home.

In the next 20 minutes, Holmes, Mark McGee and Andy Howland went close as the hosts strove to equalise, but in attacking, Steeton left Fox and the evergreen Jonny Lonsdale a little exposed at the back, DRAM taking advantage with a Teboho Mphala goal at the death.

Steeton Reserves: Jarman, Lonsdale, Hudson, Brooksbank, Fox, Foster (Sutcliffe), McGowan (Dowthwaite), Longley (Tom Holden) Holmes, Howland, McGee.
