CARLETON'S Northern Plant Hire Trophy tie at Grindleton was in the balance at half-time.

The fourth-placed Division Two visitors were leading 1-0 against the hosts, who are tenth in Division One, but it was a different story in the second half.

Carleton cracked in seven to win the third-round match 8-0 and book a home tie against Silsden Whitestar.

Tom Palmer (3), Stuart Gee (2), Jamie Fryers, Ben Teal and substitute Stephen Cox were Carleton's marksmen, and AFC Barnoldswick came within a whisper of joining them in the quarter-finals.

The mid-table Division Three club held Division Two high-fliers FC Polonia to 1-1 at full-time and only lost 7-6 on penalties, with the Keighley side now at home to Skipton LMS.

Settle United Reserves are also through to the last eight, but this time in the Division Two Cup after a 2-1 victory at Cross Hills Reserves, and they will next be at Trawden Celtic Reserves, while Cowling or Skipton Town will be at home to Oxenhope Recreation in a semi-final of the Division One Cup.

Premier Division leaders Skipton LMS had few problems at struggling Earby Town, winning 6-1 thanks to goals by Ian Craven (2), Aidan Beard, Robert Matthews, Joshua Metcalfe and Chris Simpson, while Grassington United had a predictably close 4-3 encounter at home to Rolls.

Jan Ozdoba (2), man of the match Jeremy Gee and Nicky Wright were on target for fifth-placed United, with Luke Cockcroft, Liam Garbutt and Jonathon McGeachie replying for fourth-placed Rolls, while Gargrave won 4-0 at home to Cross Hills while Silsden Whitestar lost 1-0 at home to second-placed Trawden Celtic.

In Division Two, Cowling climbed a spot to second, with Sam Woolley netting the only goal at Ingrow & Worth Valley, while Skipton Town Reserves are up one notch to seventh after a 5-3 victory at Rolls Reserves.

John Bunnett (2), Will Knight and Andrew Nicholson were on target for Town, with man of the match Morgan Brown (2) and Lewis Rimmer replying, and Embsay lost 3-1 at home to leaders Pendle Renegades, David Wilkinson getting Embsay's goal.

In Division Two, Cononley Sports Reserves tested front-runners Manningham All Stars in a 3-2 defeat at the Coulthurst Memorial Ground, Craig Ebbrell and man of the match Jake Manditch netting for the losers, while Ross Greenwood and a Carl Drewett own goal were enough to give Skipton Town Reserves the edge at home to Grassington United Reserves, whose goal came from Graham Hunn.

In Division Three, leaders Hellifield marched on with a 5-0 triumph over Broomhill Reserves, Dale Denham (3), Kris Lund and Toby Marchesi being the marksmen, while third-placed Barnoldswick Barons swapped places with fourth-placed Addingham after a 4-2 defeat there.
