Silsden were overtaken in the North West Counties Premier Division table by basement outfit Alsager Town last night but they are still in with a chance of rescuing their season by finishing outside the bottom three.
The Bullets were surprise 3-2 winners at home to third-placed Atherton Collieries which lifted them to third bottom but the equation remains the same for the Cobbydalers. They need to win their two remaining games and hope fellow strugglers drop points.
Silsden will be looking for a rare league double from this troubled season when they journey to AFC Liverpool tomorrow. The Cobbydalers beat the west coast outfit 2-0 in the reverse fixture with goals from assistant manager Danny Forrest and Jamie Longley.
James Gill’s men have every chance of achieving their aim as they are sixth in the current form table while Liverpool are forth from bottom after winning just one of their last half dozen fixtures.
The Cobbydalers have won three games in the same period to give themselves a chance of beating the drop. Tomorrow’s hosts have been average at home while poor away but are safe as they have a 10-point cushion on the clubs below the safety line with just two games remaining.
