SILSDEN are hoping for a big turnout when they kick off their pre-season schedule as part of a charity family fun day next weekend.

The Cobbydalers will host last season's North West Counties League champions Colne on Saturday, July 9.

The match at 3pm will be the first chance to see James Gill's new squad in action as they prepare to bounce back from relegation last season.

And there will be much more going on besides with an over-30s match following the main game and junior action in the build-up.

The veterans clash, which starts at 5.15pm, will be a chance to watch old favourites turn out as members of Andy Geary's Saturday side, which climbed through the local leagues to join the non-league pyramid, will take on Jason McNulty's equally successful Sunday side for the Arthur Tillotson Cup.

A plaque celebrating Arthur's contribution to the club will be unveiled before the game, which is set to see names such as Martin Foulger, Martin and Matthew Bland, Paul Schofield, Jimmy Hedges, Andy Holden and many more familiar faces turn out.

Entry to the afternoon is 'pay what you want', with part of the proceeds going to a breast cancer charity.

The festivities start at noon, with the first game being an under-sevens clash between Silsden and Colne at 12.45pm, followed by Silsden under-11s v Oakworth under-12s at 1.30pm.

Attractions such as face painting and a bouncy castle will be running throughout the day, with the evening concluding with a hog roast supper and live band.
