BARNOLDSWICK Town and Silsden have been knocked out of the FA Cup before kicking off their Hallmark Security League programme.

Both bowed out in replays on Tuesday night, Barnoldswick went down 4-0 away to Northern League Dunston while Silsden were beaten 3-1 at home by Northern Counties East Leaguers Bridlington.

Barnoldswick, who had come back from 2-0 down on Saturday with two goals in the last ten minutes to force the replay, fell behind after 42 minutes to a Malcolm Morien goal.

With Town looking for an equaliser, Dunston scored three times in 12 minutes in the second half to seal a home tie against Penrith in the Preliminary Round.

Oliver Leedham’s goals in the 69th and 81st minutes came either side of a 71st minute strike for James Lucock.

Town open their Premier Division Campaign with successive away games at AFC Liverpool on Saturday and Darwen next Wednesday.

Silsden might have been forgiven for thinking they had done the hard work when they drew 1-1at Bridlington on Saturday. Luke Richardson’s 73rd minute strike cancelled out a goal byAndy Norfolk.

Silsden’s hopes of progressing were scuppered by three goals late in the first half of Tuesday’s replay.An own goal gave the visitors the lead after 32 minute before Brett Agnew added further goals in the 39th and 41st minutes.

Danny Forrest netted a second-half goal for Silsden who open their Division One programme at home to Ashton Town on Saturday and Charnock Richard on Tuesday.
