Oswestry Town 6 Silsden 6

THIS game was made for Chris "unbelievable Jeff" Kamara.

On the artificial pitch that Oswestry Town share with Welsh League heavyweights The New Saints, Silsden were 4-1 down by the 55th minute, were 6-4 up against ten men after 90 minutes but still only managed a draw.

Silsden had even later chances to win it via Danny Forrest and Chris Wademan but manager James Gill said: “At 4-1 down, I would have been delighted with a point, especially having seen Luke Richardson limp off midway through the first half. It was also good to see Matty Moses back on duty.”

Forrest returned for the visitors, with the artificial pitch making for a pacy game after heavy morning rain.

The hosts, who were only formed in 2013, opened their account on seven minutes when Twunda Melusi's shot from the edge of the box went in off the crossbar, but two minutes later, Richardson’s cross was knocked down by Josh Kaine for Forrest to level the scores.

Gill replaced Richardson but, within a minute, Lewis Jarman had weaved his way through a slack Silsden defence to restore Town’s lead and, on the stroke of half-time, Silsden keeper Callum Jacovlevs sliced a clearance into the path of Liam Molloy, who made it 3-1.

Silsden started on the attack in the second half, Nicky McNally’s low shot rebounding off a post, and the hosts made it 4-1, with Melusi outpacing Kane before sliding the ball home.

Silsden, who were beginning to look ragged against some slick pass-and-move football, needed some inspiration, and Kyle Hancock's stunner did the trick, McNally's shot being fumbled into his own net a minute later by Connor Tinsley to make it 4-3.

Melusi was then shown a red card following an altercation with Wademan, and it was all-square two minutes later, with Leon Smith scoring from McNally's cross.

Silsden took the lead in the 71st minute, with Tinsley pushing the ball into the net after McNally's shot had slid under his body, and, with time running out, Hancock's close-range effort made it 6-4.

In stoppage time, Tom Marshall's clearance only found Oswestry left back Brendon Price in the visitors' area, who netted the home side's fifth goal, and substitute Rick Litchfield bagged the equaliser after good work by Elliott Durrell.

The six goals made the Cobbydalers the league's top scorers with 23 from seven games.
