West Riding County Women's League Division Two: Ossett Town Reserves 1 Silsden Development 7

SILSDEN Development felt that they were underdogs at Ossett Town Reserves, who had also lost four out of four.

But maybe a change of formation helped the visitors to notch their first win of the season as manager Richard Murgatroyd and coach Neil Farley adopted a 4-5-1 system when Silsden were defending and a 4-3-3 when they were attacking.

Having survived an early scare, stand-in keeper Lauren Murgatroyd making the save, the visitors were both cautious and nervous until Izzy di Franco put them ahead in the tenth minute with a powerful shot after a pacy run down the wing.

With the back four of captain Dee Rutherford, Kourtnai Broughton, Jordan Whitely and Charlotte Mitchell in good form, Silsden struck again in the 22nd minute with a superbly placed shot into the far corner.

Ossett immediately hit the bar but, with Natasha Mulligan, Kate Perfect and Gemma Scott-Jones bossing midfield, Silsden made it 3-0 in the 26th minute.

On came midfielder-striker Sarah Mitchell and full back-winger Rebecca Leach for the visitors, and with speedy wingers Naomi and Izzy di Franco stretching the hosts, the Ossett keeper had to make several smart saves to keep it at 3-0.

However, the made it 3-1 in the 37th minute, but any ideas of a comeback were snuffed out by Naomi Di Franco three minutes into the second half when she used her pace and powerful shot to score.

With Murgatroyd determined not to concede another, Mulligan's clever pass unlocked the Ossett for a fifth goal.

Izzy di Franco hit the bar from a well-delivered cross by her sister, but another telling delivery by the same player brought the sixth goal in the 85th minute, and Sarah Mitchell bagged the seventh three minutes later.
