THACKLEY will be hoping for a positive result from Saturday's trip to mid-table Rainworth Miners' Welfare to give everyone a boost as they host their second former players’ day on Sunday.

The Dennyboys are enjoying their best season for some time and are currently second in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League's top tier.

They are just three points off leaders Cleethorpes Town but have played three games more.

Chris Reape’s men have also played one more game than Premier Division rivals and neighbours Liversedge, who were top of the league for a long period but have slipped recently.

Sedge are third but the big games just keep coming for the Clayborners, and they host sixth-placed Pickering Town this weekend.

The Pikes are ready to bite as, although they currently trail Sedge by six points, they have four games in hand.

Fifth-placed Albion Sports will be expecting to keep the pressure on the leading pack at lowly Retford United.

Albion’s hosts are just above the drop zone but they have played fewer games than the clubs below them.

Campion are enjoying their first season on the non-league ladder as they go into this weekend in the play-off places in Division One, but they face a stern test.

James Bicknell’s men have home advantage but host fourth-placed Knaresborough Town.

Eccleshill United are also at home but, despite winning last Saturday, the Eagles are still four points outside the play-off places.

They could also be overtaken by visitors Glasshoughton Welfare so will need to remain focused.

Silsden head north for a second consecutive cup tie but with a new manager at the helm after James Gill was dismissed last Sunday.

The day after the Cobbydalers won 8-2 at higher-ranking New Mills in the North West Counties League Cup, the former boss was informed that his services were no longer required.

Last weekend’s victory came in the Macron Cup, while Saturday's journey to Holker Old Boys is for a Division One cup tie.

It will mark Danny Forrest’s first game in charge.

Former Bantams youth striker and Guiseley player Forrest was Gill’s assistant.

The club have turned to him to take the Cobbydalers forward.
