Hallmark Security League Division One: Daisy Hill 5 Silsden 4

A STOPPAGE-TIME winner from four-goal Ashley Stott thwarted a comeback from Silsden last night as their defensive problems continued.

The Cobbydalers had a goal disallowed on 30 seconds and proceeded to create three good chances in the opening ten minutes, without converting one.

Daisy Hill's first significant attack brought the opener on 14 minutes when Sam Jacomb failed to clear a cross from the right which Stott converted.

It wasn’t a good night for the Cobbydalers centre back, who failed to control another cross on 21 minutes and Stott grabbed the opportunity to give the home side a two-goal lead.

Silsden may have problems defensively but they do create chances and had an impressive 21 corners in the match.

Danny Riley pulled a goal back on 32 minutes following a flowing move but, just as they had on Saturday, Silsden conceded just before the half-time whistle.

Will Storrie failed to track Curtis Cummins, who had broken from his own half to rifle home a low shot.

Ross Wilson pulled another goal back on 50 minutes with a superb drive from 30 yards before Jacomb was again outsmarted by Stott, who completed his hat-trick on 76 minutes.

A minute later it was 4-3, Leon Smith latching on to Storrie's through-ball to slide it wide of the Daisy keeper.

With four minutes left, Riley headed home to level at 4-4 and Silsden looked like they might go on to even win it.

Nicky McNally failed to convert two chances and Riley hit the bar before Stott dealt a late killer blow.

He beat four defenders to a cross from a corner to seal the points for the home side.

The Cobbydalers travel to Ashton Town on Saturday and Charnock Richard on Tuesday.
