A LAST-MINUTE penalty robbed Thackley of a win that would have kept them joint top of the Toolstation Northern Counties East table as Worksop Town snatched a dramatic draw from their Premier Division clash at Dennyfield.

It was a disputed decision, and that made it worse for the home side to take.

The Dennyboys looked set to bank all three points following Chris Wademan’s 65th-minute goal.

They held that slender lead going into the last minute, and thought they had defended a corner successfully as the referee followed play as the ball was cleared, but he turned to see an assistant with his flag across his chest.

The assistant thought he had seen George Eustance pulling a Worksop player back, so the referee awarded the spot-kick that Connor Brunt netted.

Thackley's chief rivals Cleethorpes Town won at home, so are now two points clear.

Liversedge got back to winning ways as they romped to a 5-1 victory at Retford United but they remain seventh.

Joe Walton broke the deadlock and Brandon Kane added to that on the stroke of half-time.

Jack Walters pulled one back for Retford but Walton bagged his brace before Gibril Bojang and Tom Brook netted within three minutes of each other.

Campion moved back to within a point of the play-offs in Division One with a 5-3 home win over Rossington Main.

Mark Bett was James Bicknell’s side's hat-trick hero after the home side had twice come from a goal down, the second time following a contentious penalty.

The visitors opened the scoring in the eighth minute but Eli Hey levelled midway through the first half.

Bett scored his first to put Campion in front, Jason Vernon then netted the penalty that Campion argued was for a foul outside the area, while, to rub salt in the wounds, Bett had a strike chalked off for offside soon after.

Lee Holmes netted a looping header to make it 3-2 to Main but Bett claimed his treble either side of a Josh Cooke strike as Campion cruised to their win.

Eccleshill United were also involved in a high-scoring game but they were on the wrong end of a nine-goal thriller, losing 5-4 at relegation-threatened Westella & Willerby.

The Eagles led three times and equalised at 4-4 in the 83rd minute but still lost.

The home side’s Danny Walker bagged four goals but it was Zac Oakshott who netted the winner, while skipper Sam Bradley, Luke Harrop, Alex Cusack and Matt Waller were on target for the Eagles.

Brighouse Town shared the points with Tadcaster Albion as the pair met in Evo-Stik Division One North. The Brewers were promoted last May and  came from a goal down in a 1-1 draw.

Luke Parkin had put Town in front but Josh Greening equalised after just 16 minutes.

There was a first start for Brighouse for Devonte Morton, who Paul Quinn signed on Friday from Albion Sports.

There was cup action at Keighley Road as Silsden booked themselves a place in the Hallmark Security League Cup quarter-finals.

The Cobbydalers were hosting an 1874 Northwich side that were riding high in the top tier but edged through in extra-time.

The visitors had Paul Connor sent off late in the second half - a straight red card after lashing out - and Danny Thomas got a second yellow card for bringing down Nicky McNally in the area in stoppage time of the first period of extra-time.

McNally placed the ball on the spot and, though his penalty kick was parried by the visitors’ keeper, he reacted quickly to slot in the rebound.
