PROGRESS in the West Riding County FA Sunday Cup and Sunday Trophy proved predictably hard for teams from the Skipton and Keighley area.

Skipton LMS didn't even make it onto the pitch as they conceded their third-round Sunday Cup tie at Ryburn United, while Settle United Reserves lost 4-0 at home to Springhead Reserves in the Trophy.

Not even Skipton Body Repair Centre Premier Division leaders Silsden Whitestar were safe, going down 3-0 at Wakefield & District League side FC Prince at Ferrybridge Park, scuppering a fourth-round Trophy tie at home to Sporting Keighley.

In the Northern Plant Hire Trophy, Premier Division Grassington United booked themselves a third-round tie at First Division Carleton, courtesy of a 6-0 home victory over top-flight basement boys Earby Town, with Jan Ozdoba (2), Matthew Appleton, Alex Ashby, David Greenwood and Peter Messenger getting the goals.

There are new leaders in the Premier Division, with Rolls taking advantage of Whitestar's cup commitment to go top after a 9-0 thumping of Cross Hills.

Morgan Brown (4) led the way, with Paul Oldroyd (2), Kevin Richardson and substitutes Damon Clark and Daniel Howard completing the tally.

Settle United's match at Pendle Renegades was a battle between third and fourth and ended in a 1-1 draw, with David Worthington scoring for lower-placed United, whose man of the match was Sam Arrowsmith.

In the First Division, Cowling had only three scorers but netted seven goals in their home victory against Broomhill, who had two sent off.

Sam Woolley led the way with a hat-trick, while Craig Gregory and Jack Stephenson each bagged a brace.

Skipton Town are up a place to second after a 4-1 victory at Bingley Juniors, with gong winner John Bunnett bagging a hat-trick and Jonathon Reynolds getting the other.

David Hunt's brace was not enough for Bradley, who were only trailing visitors AFC Colne 3-2 at half-time but conceded three without reply in the second half.

Hellifield Sports continue to dominate the Second Division, man of the match Dale Denham netting four in a 5-1 home triumph over Barnoldswick Barons.

Matthew Beckwith scored the other, with substitute Joe Mason bagging the consolation.

Cononley Sports are up from sixth to third in the Second Division on the back of a 4-1 win at Trawden Celtic Reserves, but Cross Hills Reserves had a bad day, losing 2-1 to hand hosts Otley Town only their second victory of the season.

Daniel Pow and substitute Elliott Hall were on target for Grassington United Reserves in their 2-0 victory at AFC Barnoldswick, for whom Jake Pollard won both man of the match awards, while Skipton Town Reserves and Pendle Renegades Reserves took part in a rare 0-0 draw.

In the Third Division, second-placed Silsden Whitestar Reserves won 8-0 at home to Settle United Thirds, with Brad Fay (3), man of the match Ryan Narey and substitute Mark Smith being among the scorers, while fourth-placed Sutton were 2-0 up at half-time at fifth-placed Barlick Wanderers but ended up drawing 3-3.

Will Beckwith (2) and Aiden Robertson netted for Sutton, whose man of the match was Dave Snowden, with Jonathan Davies, Daniel Holden and gong winner Sam Walsh replying.

Thabani Songo was again man of the match for Cowling Reserves, who lost 6-1 at leaders Ilkley, but Bradley Reserves gained only their second point of the season after a 1-1 draw at fellow strugglers Addingham.
