FARSLEY Celtic overturned a first-half deficit to haul themselves into second place in Division One North of the Evo-Stik League, with striker James Walshaw continuing his rich vein of form.

It was fifth hosting sixth as the Celts welcomed Glossop North End to Throstle Nest, and it was the Derbyshire outfit that started better, centre back Adam Jones heading them into the lead from a ninth-minute corner.

Farsley replied in kind, however, as Adam Clayton headed the Celts level from Ryan Watson’s 54th-minute free-kick.

The match then turned on its head in quick time as Walshaw netted his first before Jordan Deacey made it 3-1 in the 66th minute, and Walshaw wrapped it up as he bagged his brace with a late strike.

Brighouse Town remain ninth after a 2-0 defeat in a battle of the Roses at Ramsbottom United.

The first half was goalless but Darrhyl Mason broke the deadlock three minutes after the break, and a late Ryan Salmon penalty ensured a home win for the Lancastrians.

Silsden hit St Helens Town for six as the Cobbydalers made it back-to- back victories in Division One of the Hallmark Security League.

Following a 2-1 home win over Alsager Town the previous weekend, Silsden beat another side above them in the league but had to come from a goal down before winning each half by the same scoreline in a 6-2 win.

Andrew Gillespie gave the home side a first-minute lead but a brace from Will Storrie and a Chris Wademan strike saw the Cobbydalers 3-1 up by the interval.

Kyle Hancock increased their lead before Stephen Davies netted for Town but late goals from Aaron Davies and Ben Cox meant Silsden romped home.

The Northern Counties East League fixtures were decimated by the weather but Campion got their home game on, only for it to be a damp squib.

James Bicknell’s men could have cut the gap between them and the play-off places but were held to a draw at home by second-from-bottom Westella & Willerby.

The home side took a slender lead into the break after Jacob Buchanan’s 38th-minute opener but they had to settle for a point as Mike Hewitt made it 1-1 with a little over three minutes remaining.

The area’s three Premier Division representatives - Thackley, Albion Sports and Liversedge - were all frustrated by postponements as only one game in the top tier survived.
