SILSDEN were unable to make the most of their second chance at Widnes as their replayed Hallmark Security League Division One match ended 1-0 to the hosts tonight.
The original clash last December had been abandoned after 65 minutes due to fog with Widnes 4-1 up.
And the home side held sway again thanks to a 68th minute winner from Kev Towey after a neat ball from Sam Sheen.
Towey had let Silsden off the hook as early as the first minute when his penalty was saved by Callum Jakovlevs after he had been brought down by Dan Illingworth.
Jakovlevs prevented Widnes from increasing their lead after a stunning save saw him tip a George Lomax effort on to the bar.
