BARNOLDSWICK Town’s players are taking a well-earned break after playing five games in the final eight days of the Hallmark Security League Premier Division season.

Having won four of the matches Town climbed to 11th in the table and that should out them in good heart for the Macron Cup final against City of Liverpool at Fleetwood on May 16.

Town’s stamina has certainly been tested by their exhausting schedule but manager Danny Craig will be pleased with the response he got from his men.

On Thursday they defeated AFC Liverpool 5-2 with another competent performance.

After falling behind to a third-minute goal by Jack Hont, they hit back to establish a 3-1 half-time lead with goals by John Beckwith, Jake Lloyd and Aaron Hollindrake.

The second half saw Zack Dale add another goal to his growing tally and Kenny Taylor netted the fifth before Hont hit Liverpool’s second.

Town rounded off their season on Saturday when they overcame Winsford United 2-1 at the Silentnight Stadium.

Ben Gorman fired them into a fifth-minute lead, but Andrew Keogh equalised just after the 15 minute mark.

Town regained the lead when the in-form Dale netted after 39 minutes and preserved their lead to the end of the game
