DANNY Craig wants to win the Macron Cup to reward the hard work of everybody at Barnoldswick Town.

They face ambitious Hallmark Security League Division One outfit City of Liverpool in the final at Fleetwood Town’s Highbury ground on Tuesday.

And Craig believes winning silverware would give a lift to everybody.

The resolve of the whole club was tested in the final week of the Hallmark Security League Premier Division season when they have to play five home games in a week.

The players responded by winning four of the five matches to finish 11th.

Craig said: “There is nothing better than wins to build confidence. I cannot praise the players enough. They were tired, battered and bruised, but did what I asked.

“But the real heroes were the groundstaff who had to get the pitch ready, the bar staff, the tea ladies and the ladies who wash the kit. They are the people we want to win this cup for. They are what this club is about”

City of Liverpool have already won the Reusch First Division One Cup and face Sandbach in the second-leg of the Division One promotion play-off on Saturday.

Craig has watched them twice and says: “They are a side who have players who should be playing at a higher level.

“I expect them to be a top six side in the Premier Division next season, it is going to be a good test for us and we expect them to have a large following.”
