GRASSINGTON United have had a cracking end to the Skipton Body Repair Centre Craven League season.

Not only have the won the league's blue-riband knockout competition, the Northern Plant Hire Trophy, but they have also finished as runners-up in the Premier Division.

Skipton LMS were United's opponents in the cup final at Gargrave last Thursday, and the score was 1-1 at full-time, with United triumphing 5-4 on penalties.

Jan Ozdoba netted for Grassington in normal time, with Ian Clayton replying, while Peter Messenger (Grassington) and Daniel Hunt (LMS) were the respective men of the match.

On Saturday, United had seven different scorers in their 8-3 home romp against Silsden Whitestar that clinched second place behind league champions Settle United.

Christian Moon was the only marksman to bag a brace, with singles coming from Robert Booth, Matthew Brennand, David Greenwood, Ozdoba, Anton Parkinson and Jack Schindler.

Ten-man Whitestar only trailed 4-3 at half-time, thanks to goals by their joint men of the match Sam Stanfield (2) and Mateusz Tomas, but they then conceded four goals without reply.

After winning both the Keighley & District FA Challenge Cup and the Skipton Body Repair Centre Craven League’s Premier Division Cup, Silsden Whitestar's league season has ended in disappointing fashion.

They also handed champions Settle United a home walkover two weekends ago.

From having the chance to finish second, Whitestar ended up being fourth as Rolls also passed them.
