BARNOLDSWICK Town kick off their new season on Saturday with an FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round home tie against Jarrow Roofing.

Manager Danny Craig will be hoping his men can make progress ahead of the start of their Hallmark Security League Premier Division campaign at Winsford United on August 12.

Town have shows promise in their pre-season matches although they did lose their final friendly 3-2 at home to Bamber Bridge on Saturday.

Striker Danny Boyle, who has netted two hat-tricks in the warm-up games, was among a number of absentees.

Another player who has caught the eye has been attacking midfielder Zack Dale. He twice netted equalisers in Saturday's game before the visitors finally snatched the win.

Dale's second goal came from the penalty spot when he sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.

Town were left to rue three good chances that got away in the first half.

Silsden went down 1-0 at home to Evo Stik League side Clitheroe, with Ollie Crankshaw scoring a late goal.

The Cobbydalers end their pre-season campaign on Saturday with a home game against Royton Town.

West Riding County Amateur League side Steeton beat Bacup Borough 4-2 on Saturday, with Graham Holmes hitting a hat-trick and Michael Rhodes scoring a great free-kick.

The Chevrons are in action at home to Thackley tonight and travel to Evo Stik League side Colne on Saturday.
