THACKLEY exacted swift retribution as they took three Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division points from their meeting with Harrogate Railway, just a week after their rivals knocked them out of the FA Cup.

There was a glut of goals in the two meetings as Thackley won the league game 5-3 after losing the cup tie to a late strike in a seven-goal thriller.

A quick brace inside the opening quarter-hour for Joe Hughes put the Dennyboys in charge of the league clash, but Adam Carter hit back for the Rail in the 17th minute and the visitors were level at the break after Will Hutton scored.

The Dennyboys edged back in front early in the second half thanks to Kasi Omolokun before Elliott Williams, who had bagged a brace for the Rail in their 4-3 cup win at Dennyfield, equalised.

However, Thackley eased home thanks to two late goals, with Mike Garrod restoring their lead four minutes from time and Omolokun bagging his brace deep into stoppage time.

Albion Sports continued their unbeaten start in another high-scoring game as they returned from Staveley MW with a point from a 3-3 draw courtesy of two very late goals.

The hosts were 3-1 up as the game entered the last minute after strikes from Josh Barker, Tyla Bell and Kurtis Morley, Omar Habeeb having netted for the Lions from the penalty spot.

Substitute Redmond Lee thought he had scored for Albion in the 90th minute but it went down as an own goal by Thomas Ellis,and Danny Facey hit the all-important leveller in stoppage time.

Liversedge also earned a point from an away draw as they came from a goal down against Rainworth Miners' Welfare.
