Hallmark Security League Division One: AFC Blackpool 1 Silsden 3

BLACKPOOL remained a happy hunting ground for Silsden as they made it two wins out of two.

Danny Forrest's side won 6-0 here last season and they were good value for the spoils again.

However, it was a much closer affair against a side who finished fourth from bottom last campaign but look a lot stronger after strengthening this time round under new boss Dave Worthington.

Silsden had opened their account last weekend with a 1-0 home win over Sandbach but the seasiders were in equally good spirits following a 3-1 success at FC Oswestry Town.

New signing Arley Barnes caught the eye in the first half for the Cobbydalers, prompting play from the middle of the park.

But keeper Callum Jakovlevs had to make a good save from Blackpool's Daniel Pickering before a curling effort from Kyle Hancock tested Callum Kirkland at the other end.

Joe Gaughan also went close for Silsden in what looked like would be a goalless first half before they took the lead in stoppage time when Forrest netted following a free-kick from Hancock.

Gaughan had chance to make it two after the break in a one-on-one but Blackpool levelled after 59 minutes when Ben Duffield stretched the defence and slotted home.

However, Silsden regained the lead with a quarter of an hour left as Niall Sultan dipped his shoulder and found the net from outside the box.

The points were sealed minutes later when Aaron Davis made it three after good work by Gaughan.

Silsden are on the road again on Saturday when they head to Carlisle City.
