THACKLEY host Liversedge in the big Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division derby on Saturday, with the Dennyboys looking to extend the gap between the sides.

In eighth place, Thackley are immediately above their neighbours, two points better off but having played a game more.

Sedge have only played three league games because, unlike their cross- city hosts, they are still in the FA Cup.

Jonathan Rimmington’s men are looking forward to a first qualifying round tie at Sunderland RCA a week on Saturday.

Thackley’s assistant manager Andy Patterson said: “We’re expecting a very tough game because it’s a proper derby and both sides usually go all out for the win.

“There is no love lost between the players and they love the bragging rights. It will be a nice fiery affair.

"Sedge have started well and (manager) Chris (Reape) went to see them on Tuesday to give us a bit of background info to work on.”

Albion Sports face a tough afternoon as they travel to Worksop Town, where they lost a seven-goal thriller last season.

The Albion Lions had Omar Habeeb and Danny Facey (2) on target as they went down 4-3.

Lions boss Kulwinder Sandhu will hope that the duo are in the goals again as on the four occasions this term that the pair have been on the scoresheet together, Albion are unbeaten, winning three and drawing one.

Albion are also still in the FA Cup, and have a home tie against Barnoldswick Town from the Hallmark Security League Premier Division.

In Division One of the NCE League, Eccleshill United's supporters will wonder what to expect as their team host Grimsby Borough.

It’s been a mixed start for the Eagles with an away win on the opening day, a heavy home defeat, a good home win and then another bad defeat.

The Eagles were beaten 3-1 at Selby Town last Saturday.

They host a side just as inconsistent in Boro, with both clubs averaging a point per game until Wednesday, when Boro hit Brigg Town for six.

Campion are on the road against Retford United, one of the clubs relegated from the top tier last season.

James Bicknell’s men will be in high spirits after climbing back up to fifth with a 4-1 home win over Ollerton Town in midweek.

Silsden will be defending their 100 per cent start in Division One of the Hallmark Security League when they welcome Alsager Town to the Cobbydale Construction Stadium.

The Cobbydalers are second after three wins from three, but their visitors are in fourth and are also unbeaten.

Alsager have dropped just two points following a draw.

The Bullets were held 1-1 at home by Sandbach United last weekend.

Silsden beat Sandbach 1-0 on the opening day thanks to a Joe Gaughan goal.
