West Riding County Cup first round: Barnoldswick Town 0 Tadcaster Albion 2
BARLICK bowed out at the first hurdle of the County Cup last night after they paid for a sloppy start.
Early goals from Josh Greening and Tom Corner saw Albion 2-0 up by the 19th minute and that was enough to earn them a second-round tie at home to Silsden.
After their slow opening, Town gained a little momentum for the last 25 minutes of the first half, taking the game to the visitors. Joel Melia rounded off a slick move by forcing Gregory Hartley into a great save at the foot of his right-hand post.
The game continued in the same vein after the break, Barlick keeper Connor King not really having a save to make.
At the other end Alex Doyle brought a spectacular save out of Hartley, who tipped his volley round the post when it looked like it was heading for the top corner.
Had Town pulled one back, it looked like an equaliser was there for the taking but it was not to be.
