Barnoldswick Town 5 Squires Gate 0
BARNOLDSWICK Town got off to another flying start as they brought Squires Gate’s seven-match unbeaten run to an end in Saturday’s Hallmark Security Premier Division game.
Just as at Darwen on Wednesday night when they won 4-0, Town were two up in the first 15 minutes.
Mark Threlfall opened the scoring in the third minute after a swift move. Liam Blades played a great pass down the wing to Zack Dale who beat the full back to the ball before crossing for Threlfall to slot home.
Dale extended the lead after 11 minutes when he cut in from the visitors right before stroking the ball across Ben Fletcher in the visitors’ goal into the far corner.
There were no more goals in the first half but Town were threatening to increase their score with repeated attacks on the visitors defence.
Andrew Hill got the all-important third goal after 61 minutes by striking home from the edge of the box into the bottom corner.
Three minutes later and it was four as Matthew Cavanagh got onto the scoresheet scoring from close range after a Hill shot had hit the foot of the post.
Town scored their fifth after 77 minutes when Aaron Hollindrake, who had only been on the pitch for two minutes after replacing Threlfall, turned on a sixpence and shot home from seven yards out.
