SILSDEN Whitestar dominated the second half of their West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy tie at home to Rock Inn.

The Craven League side were only leading 1-0 after a tough first half against a team that had only lost once this season but ended up winning the fourth-round tie 5-0.

The under-par hosts had keeper Wayne Mahomet to thank for a terrific first-half save, tipping the ball onto the bar in an even 45 minutes, but they cashed in following the interval against their Wakefield League Premier Division visitors.

Having missed two golden opportunities early in the second half, Whitestar were at their free-flowing best, despite the tricky surface.

Goals came from man of the match Rob Matthew (2), who had his best game for his new club, Gavin Shearer, James Wilson and Sam Stanfield.

Whitestar are again at home to Wakefield League Premier Division opposition in the last 16 on Saturday, February 3, facing Prince of Wales (Ossett).
