SILSDEN Whitestar reached the last eight of the West Riding County FA Trophy with an emphatic 6-0 win over Prince of Wales (Ossett).

Man of the match Josh Metcalfe was star of the show with four goals in a game switched to the artificial surface at Sandylands in Skipton to ensure the tie beat the bad weather.

Metcalfe scored after just 12 seconds and added a second before half-time.

With Ollie Peacock and veteran Peter Hanson solid in defence, Metcalfe completed his hat-trick before James Wilson added Whitestar’s fourth with a mazy effort after picking the ball up from just inside his own half.

Metcalfe added his fourth and Sam Stanfield capped off the scoring with a deserved goal, having made five assists.

Whitestar, who paid tribute to Prince of Wales for their grace in defeat, now visit Beeston St Anthony’s from the Yorkshire Amateur League in the quarter-finals on March 3.
