LEADERS Settle United have passed a stern test of their credentials in the Skipton Body Repair Centre Craven League.

They were at third-placed Trawden Celtic in the Premier Division and triumphed 8-3, with John Beckwith walking off with the man-of-the-match award after scoring four.

He was backed up by Tom Strickland (2), Shaun Airey and Ben Philip as United kept the pressure on their main rivals Silsden Whitestar, who are four points behind with a game in hand.

Whitestar only led visitors Sporting Keighley 2-1 at half-time, but scored four unanswered goals in the second half.

Marksmen for the Cobbydalers were Oliver Peacock (2), Sam Stansfield (2), Joshua Metcalfe and James Wilson, with Gavin Shearer taking the man of the match gong.

In Division One, Settle United Reserves have climbed two places to fourth on the back of a 3-2 home victory over AFC Colne.

Dale Denham (2) and substitute Pete Stephenson were United's marksmen, but more noteworthy was Hellifield Sports' 4-2 victory at Chatburn.

Man of the match Matthew Beckwith's brace was added to by Will Leeming and Jacob Wroe as Sports notched just their second away win and fourth victory in all, which meant that only one point now separates three clubs near the foot of the table.

Skipton Town Reserves remained sixth in Division Two after a creditable 1-1 draw at fourth-placed Ilkley Town Junior Men's Academy, with man of the match Nathan Ridding netting for Town.

Barnoldswick Barons must have been optimistic of notching their first win of the season at half-time against Pendle Renegades Reserves.

The score was 0-0 but the basement boys then conceded the only goal of the second half, with Shane Taylforth netting.

Josh Scothern was man of the match for the Barons and Joe Brown for the Renegades.

Leaders Bingley Town showed no mercy to visitors Barlick Wanderers, beating them 8-2, man of the match Matthew Shirt getting both consolations.
