AT THE 15th attempt, Barnoldswick Barons are finally off the mark in Division Two of the Skipton Body Repair Centre Craven League.

They needed the excitement of a derby to clinch that first win, triumphing 2-1 at Victory Park over Barlick Wanderers.

After a goalless opening half, man of the match Sam Walsh netted for the hosts, but Barons crucially replied via Matthew Blackwell and substitute Tom Cleaver, with Andrew Wilkinson getting their match gong.

The win wasn't enough to take the winners off the bottom, but at least they now have Wanderers and Pendle Renegades Reserves in their sights.

Division One cellar dwellers Earby Town (played 15, lost 15) are now the only team in the league without a win.

At the other end of the Division Two table, second-placed Silsden Whitestar Reserves beat seventh-placed visitors Salts 4-2, courtesy of goals by Mark Bradley, Brad Fay, Tom Lohan and Ryan Narey.

James Hitch was their best player, however, while that accolade for Pendle Renegades, beaten 3-0 at unbeaten leaders Bingley Town, went to Joe Brown.

Grassington United Reserves have climbed one spot to fourth on the back of a 1-0 home victory over Skipton Town Reserves, with David Greenwood getting the goal.

AFC Barnoldswick shared the town's limelight with the Barons, however, after a 4-1 home victory over third-placed Trawden Celtic Reserves.

The hosts, who are up one place to seventh, had Luke Scott (3) and man of the match Nathan Hawke on target.

The gap between the bottom and top of the Premier Division was shown when basement boys Cross Hills hosted second-placed Silsden Whitestar in the final first-round tie of the Northern Plant Hire Trophy.

Whitestar triumphed 8-0, with joint men of the match Sam Stanfield (3) and Patryk Baryski on target, as well as Peter Hanson, Dan McNulty and substitutes Oliver Hunter and Gary Lund.

Man of the match for Cross Hills was Sam Birks as the Cobbydalers booked a home tie against Bradley.

Cowling, already a round ahead, won through to the quarter-finals after a 2-1 victory over visitors Broomhill.

George Sellars and Craig Walton netted the goals that gave the south Craveners a home tie against Manningham Allstars, but Luke Barker was Cowling's man of the match.

There was a big shock in a quarter-final of the Division One Cup as Hellifield Sports beat Rolls Reserves 3-1 on penalties after they had drawn 4-4 in normal time.

Matthew Beckwith (2), Ben Hulse and Jacob Wroe netted for tenth-placed Sports against their third-placed visitors as the former booked a tie against Carleton or Broomhill.

Division One leaders Carleton, meanwhile, marched merrily on in the league, winning 3-1 at Chatburn.

Man of the match Luke Howsen (2) and Ben Teal netted for the visitors, while Bradley picked up a good home point against third-placed Skipton Town in a 2-2 draw.

Ben Ramsden and gong winner Jordan Blackburn were Bradley's marksmen, with Michael Conroy getting one of the replies.

Cononley Sports also gave a notable performance, with the ninth-placed hosts seeing off fifth-placed Settle United Reserves 4-1, courtesy of Craig Ebbrell, man of the match Josh Gibson, Chris Lumsden and substitute Rob Slater.

Dan Cardus got the consolation for the second string, whose man of the match was Sam Arrowsmith.

Settle United's third team bowed out 5-1 at Salts Reserves in a Division Three Cup quarter-final, with man of the match David Worthington getting the solitary reply.

Sutton trailed 2-0 at half-time at home to Horton in Division Three, but only lost 3-2 after Chris Vollentine and substitute Nathan Todd netted.
