ECCLESHILL United came away from Ossett Town with a 2-1 victory in the Northern Alliance Under-19 League.

The Eagles deservedly went ahead after 10 minutes when Kevin Pedro closed down Town's defenders and scored from an angle.

Four minutes later, Alex Dunne's fine pass put Pedro away down the middle and he scored his second goal of the night with a shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Rain and heavy conditions were a factor in the second half but both teams still tried to play football, and Ossett reduced the arrears on the hour mark.

Eccleshill's manager Lee Elam said: “Both teams worked hard. Zac Sangster and Joe Storey were a constant threat for us and we saw out the match as deserved winners."

Brighouse Town suffered a humiliating 9-0 defeat against Tadcaster Albion.

Town's assistant manager Barry Thomas admitted: “We gave a very disappointing display.

"For the first 30 minutes, we were very static and didn’t seem to know what formation we were playing.

"After some re-organising from the dug-out, we looked more competitive but we had already conceded five goals before half-time.

"At least in the second half, we started to compete against Tadcaster and created a few half-chances, but we were always second best."

Campion lost 2-1 at home to Ossett Albion.

Silsden's match against Hemsworth Miners' Welfare was played on Ben Rhydding Sports Centre's artificial grass pitch, and the Cobbydalers lost 4-3.

Hemsworth raced into a 2-0 lead, with goals from a penalty and a set-piece, but Silsden pulled a goal back on the stroke of half-time, courtesy of Danny Hunt, who scored from a tight angle.

In the second period, Silsden applied early pressure.

However, a long ball over the defence resulted in a third goal for Hemsworth.

In the 70th minute, 16-year-old Joe Whitlock looped a 25-yard shot over the head of the Welfare goalkeeper into the top corner.

Shortly afterwards, Whitlock beat Hemsworth's full back and his low cross was converted by Jack Diamond to bring the scores level.

Chances fell to both teams in the last 10 minutes before Hemsworth got a late winner after an under-hit back pass was intercepted.
