Ashton Athletic 3 Barnoldswick Town 2

BARNOLDSWICK Town suffered late heartbreak with defeat in the Hallmark Security League Premier Division.

Charlie Munro’s 86th-minute strike was the difference between the teams as Town kicked off May with a poor loss after an incredible run of form during the previous month.

Town’s night started in the worst possible way as they conceded a first minute goal from Joel Brownhill.

But they equalised through Isaac Turner in the 17th minute and took the lead when Zack Dale fired home after 61 minutes.

But the 12th-placed hosts recovered late on as Joshua Nicholson made it 2-2 with 16 minutes left before Munro took the spoils for his side in last night's clash.

Town’s 15th loss of their league campaign leaves them in ninth place in the table on 64 points.

Town will be hoping for an upturn in their fortunes when they face two road trips in the next three days. They travel to Hanley Town tomorrow night, before they go to Congleton Town on Saturday.

Their busy run of league fixtures then continues on Monday night when they entertain 1874 Northwich at the Silentnight Stadium.
