Hebden’s Victoria Wilkinson helped Yorkshire to win the women’s inter-counties team competition at the Settle Hill Races on Saturday.

Wilkinson finished second as Yorkshire runners took the top three places.

Her Bingley Harriers colleague Emma Clayton won in 54mins 33 sec and Katie Walshaw of Homlfirth Harriers was third.

Wilkinson came home ten seconds behind Clayton.

Wharfedale Harrier Rachel Hill had a good run and came home 18th in 1:06:46. She was the second laddy V40 finisher in a highly-competitive field.

Her clubmate Lynn Whittaker was 39th and was the third lady V50 runner to complete the course.

It turned out to be a good day for Yorkshire with the men’s team also taking the honours.

Ilkley’s Tom Adams was their top finisher in third place in a race which was won by Scotland West’s Wegene Tafase in 46:66.

Mark McGoldrick of Wharfedale Harriers came 30th in a time of 53:06.

Ingleton’s Ellie Lambert took second place behind Lancashire’s Elizabeth Greenwood in the under-16 girls race. Her time was 33:42 .

The Wharfedale pair of James Hall and Sam Haggar were third and seventh respectively in the under-18 boys race.
