HELM Hill’s Tom Addison made light work of the multiple demands of the Farleton Knott fell race as he held off the challenge of two Craven challengers to win in 33.41.

Barlick Fell Runners’ Jimmy Craig (34.31) was second and Wharfedale Harriers’ Ted Mason came third in 35.13.

Glossopdale Harriers’ Caitlin Rice (41.25), who was holidaying in Cumbria, was the first lady finisher ahead of Edinburgh University’s Louise Mercer (41.31) and Emma Morton-Collings (48.46).

The first boy down the slippery scree and into the finish funnel in the under-17 boys race was Joe Edmondson of Broughton Runners (19.20). Wharfedale’s Thomas Nelson was a close second in 19.31. The third boy was Helm Hill’s Jack Byrne (21.30).

The closing 200m of the girls’ race was a sprint battle to the finish between Helm Hill club mates Georgia Stevens and Imogen Burrow. Georgia held her nerve and her pace to finish first (25.50) with Imogen second (25.53). Third girl was Keighley and Craven’s Hannah Thom (30.22).

The under-14 boy’s race again witnessed a battle to the finish line with Keighley and Craven’s Joe Hudson (8.49) just pipping Wharfedale’s Logan Hargreaves-(8.51). The third boy was Border Harriers’ James Salt (9.01).

The girls’ race was won by Clayton-le-Moors Briony Holt (9.48). The second and third girls were Helm Hill’s Katie Thurlow (10.07) and Wharfedale’s Emily Jones (10.55).

Wharfedale’s Sam Smith crossed the line in 4.15 to win the under-12 race. He was followed home by Ilkley Harriers’ Lewis Carr, 4.40 and Calder Valley’s James Duffy (4.48).

Speedy Alice Jones (Wharfedale Harriers) won the girls race, a mere two seconds behind the third boy, having raced him all the way down the finish field.

The second and third girls were Broughton’s Emily Swarbrick (4.57) and Wharfedale’s Charlotte Barrett (4.59).

Only one second separated the first boy and first girl in the under-nine race. The winner was Broughton’s Alex Graham (2.27), collecting another trophy this season. The second boy was Ewan Dix of Tavistock Harriers (2.30), currently on holiday with his family with Howgill Harriers’ Liam Barr (2.42) finishing third. The first girl and second overall was Hoad Hill’s Bethan Saunders . Broughton’s Jessica Edmondson was second girl and just pipped the third boy to the finish. The third girl was Eden Runners’ Esme Wakingshaw (2.46).
