MAISEY Bellwood continued her excellent form for Keighley & Craven Athletic Club, with three top-five finishes at the John Newsome Memorial Open in Wakefield on Sunday.

She won the Year Five girls' race at the West Yorkshire Schools Games at Temple Newsam earlier in the year but her efforts in Wakefield at the weekend showed that she is an athlete with many strings to her bow.

She was involved in an exciting battle for first place in the U11 girls 600 metres race and eventually finished second in a time of 1min 56.21 secs, less than three seconds behind the winner.

Maisey showed she is a highly capable sprinter too, finishing fifth in the 75m race in a quick time of 11.59.

Her talents extend to the long jump as well and she secured fourth place in that event with a particularly impressive jump of 3.37m.

A win was the only thing that eluded Maisey over the competition and she will be determined to put that right at her next competition.
