Central Yorkshire League Club East Leeds have applied to join the Aire-Wharfe League for next season.

They will be seeking a place in Division Three at the league’s council meeting at Otley Rugby Union Club on Tuesday, October 22 (8.15pm).

Silsden and Woodhouse, who occupied the bottom two places in 2013, will be seeking re-election. Meanwhile, clubs have put forward a raft of proposed rule changes regarding the points system.

It is currently six points for an outright win but Ilk-ley want that increased to seven if a side scores more runs and bowls the opponents out, while leaving it at six if they score most runs but don’t take all of the opposition’s wickets.

Ilkley also want sides to score at least half of their target batting second to earn a point. Currently there is no lower limit.

Menston want batting and bowling bonus points to be brought in line with the Bradford League, except that a cancellation will earn each team five points (rather than three) and an abandonment five points plus bonus points.

Tong Park Esholt want much the same, except that an abandonment will be four points plus bonus points, with the first batting bonus point starting at 75 runs rather than the 125 proposed by Menston. Bil-ton want an abandonment or cancellation to be worth two points, with batting bonus points starting at 125, while Rawdon want an abandonment or cancellation to be worth three points each, with batting bonus points starting at 75.

Skipton want divisional cups to replace the Waddilove, Birtwhistle and Chappell competitions.
