DIVISION One’s bottom side Cowling scored their first win of the season over ten-man Embsay at the Coliseum.

Graham Rishton made an unbeaten 117 to help Cowling reach 238-4.

In reply John Golson (63) and Phil Binner (43) helped the Shires Laners to a creditable 217-9 as Shahid Hassan took 5-29.

Thornton moved out of the bottom two thanks to a seven-wicket home victory over Riddlesden.

The visitors made 181 with Goher Ayoub making 42 as Jonny Martin took 7-66.

Thornton galloped home in only 35.4 overs. Kev Pollard (63no) and Scott Howarth- Hynes (61) put on 123 for the first wicket.

The top two both recorded wins. Oakworth overhauled Haworth’s score of 187-6 to win by seven wickets while Crossflatts won by a similar margin after chasing down Barrowford’s 228-8 with Nathan Bradbury batting through for 92no and Mohammed Adil making 58.

Division Two leaders Glusburn were restricted to 136 at Hepworth & Idle with Ian Simons scoring 36 as Dave Matthews took 4-27.

Dave Atkinson (6-42) and Mark Pickles (4-25) struck back and had the Westfield Laners back in the hut for 109.

Ingrow move into second spot after beating Barrowford II by eight wickets.

Sutton are third after demolishing Bradley by 130 runs. Skipper Craig Thornton (82) and new recruit Rob Wilkinson (68no) saw the Royd Hill side to 235-4. The home team were hustled out for 105.

The Division Three leaders Gargrave were in scintillating form at Embsay II.

John Beckwith made a superb 132 and Jonah Smith 109 during a second-wicket stand of 161.

With Joe Metcalfe hitting four sixes and five fours to finish with 68, Gargrave ran up a score of 332-3. The Shires Laners made 215.

Skipton CI nipped into second spot after beating Airedale by 34 runs.

Oakworth gained revenge for last year’s Wynn Cup final defeat at the hands of Haworth Road by beating them by seven wickets.

Thornton, who won a thrilling game with Ingrow St John’s by three runs, will take on Oakworth in the final at Cure Hill on August 3.
