TWO more wins for Settle brought to an end a hugely-successful season.

On the road for both final matches, the North Craven side started by holding Oswaldtwistle to 111-8 in a 30-over match.

Skipper Eddy Read picked up 6-36 for his third five-wicket haul of the summer.

Settle’s reply only cost them two wickets as pro Imran Khalid (32no), and Robble Davidson (51no) saw them home in 21 overs. Davidson scored his runs off just 32 balls.

Great Harwood were Sunday’s victims as Read (2-21) reached 50 wickets for the season.

Khalid was also in the wickets with 3-58 and David Worthington claimed two stumpings.

The target of 171 could have been a challenge, but Adil Islam (57) and John Davidson (33) crafted an opening stand of 103, followed by an unbeaten 45 from Khalid and 20no from Robble Davidson, who has scored 232 runs with just three dismissals in his last six innings.

This eight-wicket win means Settle are guaranteed third place in the Senior League and may finish second depending on results elsewhere.

Settle 2nds are celebrating their return to Division One after just one season in the lower ranks.

Stacksteads found Damon Barrett (3-4) unplayable, and Simon Tarbox (3-8) edged his father John (3-15) to claim his best return at senior level.

Settle lost a couple of wickets as they passed the hosts’ total of 42 as Neil Handy (14no) helped Barrett (21no) complete a fine all-round performance. A win on Saturday will bring the title to Marshfield.
