WHEN you haven't won all season, the last thing that you want to happen to you is what Gargrave suffered in Division Two of the Mewies Solicitors Craven League.

The visitors' John Beckwith played the game's dominant innings of 51 as Gargrave made 127 at Hepworth & Idle, and they had reduced the hosts to 55-5 before Dave Matthews (31no) played a captain's knock for the Westfield Laners, adding 33 with Glen Pinkney (23) for the sixth wicket as the home side got home by one wicket to foil Joe Wood (4-37).

Gargrave have so far garnered only one point but at the other end of the table, Cowling are joint top with Thornton-in-Craven.

Scoring runs was difficult at The Coliseum, and Glusburn could only make 125-4 off their 45 overs, Matthew Lloyd scoring an unbeaten 74 as opening bowlers Martyn Dalby (13-5-26-2) and Banaras Hussain (11-5-24-1) turned the screw.

Everyone contributed to Cowling's reply as they won by seven wickets in 36.2 overs, Dalby top-scoring with 33 not out in a 62-run stand with Shahid Hassan (29no).

Sam Linton (34no) led the way in Bradley's 156-9 but they couldn't capitalise on Oakworth Seconds being 34-4 and lost by one wicket as the final pair added 21.

In Division One, skipper Duncan Ward (74) and No 9 Haroon Ali (55) were two of the only three Embsay players to reach double figures in their 167-9, and Crossflatts won by six wickets in 41.5 overs as Josh Robinson took 2-32 and Phil Binner 2-61.

Kane Booker (3-17) and Richard Walker (3-29) put Sutton in with a fighting chance at Ingrow St John's, who were dismissed for 109, but, despite 24 from Simon Doane and 21 from Chris Williams, the visitors could only reply with 94.

Division Three leaders Cononley have lost their unbeaten record following a five-run defeat against Eldwick & Gilstead at Aire View.

The home side made 154-6, Scott Brook taking 2-24, and Cononley looked certain winners when openers Herbie Starkey (54) and Jack Hatton (56) made half-centuries but no-one else reached double figures as they were dismissed for 149 in 42.5 overs.
