SETTLE held on to their top spot in the Ribblesdale Senior League after a comfortable home win against Euxton.

The visitors inched their way to 135-7 in the face of tight bowling. Pro Imran Khalid took 4-54 with support from Hassan Fazal ((2-33).

Settle dug in at first with Asil Fazal (32) and Khalid (29) laying the foundations for the innings. The middle order then faltered briefly before they breezed home after 37 overs.

Tom Davidson made 15 before an unbeaten partnership between Will Davidson and David Worthington (18 apiece) saw the leaders to their victory target.

The Marshfield men have a busy weekend in prospect with a 20/20 trip to Clitheroe tomorrow night, an away league match at Brinscall on Saturday and their second-round Lancashire Cup tie on Sunday when they entertain ECB Premier League side Lytham.

Earby suffered a 75-run defeat against champions Clitheroe after they were bowled out for a disappointing score of 104.

Only opener Matthew Garner (42) looked at ease as Marcus Sharp (5-42) and Janaka Guneratne (4-27) went to work.

Clitheroe made 179 in their innings when they batted first. Naeem Ashraf (50) and Peter Dibb (33) led the way, while Richard Craddock (4-36) was the pick of the Earby bowlers.

Settle seconds lifted themselves out of the Division One basement with a derby victory at Earby. Jack Harrison (18) and Shaun Airey (14) set the pace, but it was under-16 Simon Tarbox who held the innings together with his highest senior score of 32, shoring up the side after a mid-order collapse at the hands of Martin Windle (6-23).

The total of 112 all out looked hard to defend, but John Tarbox (5-36) was once again to the fore, aided by Josh Mullinder (3-13) and Tarbox junior (2-33) with Earby being bowled out for 85.
