SENIOR League leaders Settle were easy nine-wicket winners in their derby match at Barnoldswick despite the hosts posting a challenging 195 all out.

The Victory Park top order fared well as the in-form Abdul Saddique (42) and Luke Hodgson (38) set the tone, followed by 36 in 18 balls from Umar Saddique.

Home pro Kyle Marshall was bowled by his Settle counterpart Imran Khalid for 20 while John Pickup (30) added valuable runs.

Khalid, who took 3-76 against his old club, was outshone by Asif Fazal’s return of 5-58 as the lower order faltered.

Settle’s reply was emphatic. In-form Robbie Davidson hit 15 fours in a knock of 76 and Fazal completed a fine all-round day with an unbeaten 67 in their opening stand of 152.

Khalid saw Settle through to victory with 31 not out as Settle reached their target in just 27 overs.

An unbroken seventh-wicket partnership of 150 sentenced Earby to defeat in a match against Ribblesdale which they looked to be winning when they reduced their opponents to 82-6.

Pro Dave Crotty took 3-55 as Ribblesdale struggled in the early stages of their reply to Earby’s 229-8 before South African Ryan Canning (107no) and Mick Clarkson (57no) turned the match around and secured a three-wicket victory for their side.

Earby had set what looked a challenging total thanks largely to in-form opener Chris Walton who made 71. Ian Britcliffe took 5-57 for Ribblesdale.

The tables were turned in Settle's second team fixture at Marshfield as Barnoldswick racked up 250 runs, dominated by an unbeaten 97 from Nathan Taylforth.

Macauley Cunningham (40) and Chris Lemon (32) were backed up by Adil Khan’s 31 and 25 from David Scothern, while Jason Paul took 4-49 for the hosts.

Settle’s Josh Mullinder (42) and John Davidson (30) then paved the way for a solid performance from John Tarbox (35) and 38 from Kieren Ashley.

Juniors Simon Tarbox (19), Dan Strickland (14) and Ben Hulse (13) fought hard but Jonathan Beech’s 4-58 saw the hosts restricted to 207 all out to lose by 43 runs.
