SKIPTON took a big step towards safety in Aire-Wharfe League Division Two with a two-wicket win at Addingham.

Gary Owens led the way with a 5-23 spell as the hosts, who were put into bat, were bowled out for 195 in 42 overs.

Henry Barrow hit 60 for Addingham, with number three Ricky Palacio hitting a quick 38 in 21 balls, including three sixes. That put the home side 106-4 at the halfway mark but they could not pass 200.

Skipton were given a good start by their first three batsmen. Shahid Nadeem (26), Ben Holderness (44) and Graham Summersgill (29) took them to 102 and, though no one else passed 20, the visitors managed to eek out enough runs to reach their target in the 46th over, despite the efforts of man of the match Barrow (3-47).

Steeton look odds on to join all-but-relegated Kirkstall in the second tier next season after the Summerhill Lane side went down to Ilkley.

Josh Gill (5-67) and James Emmott (3-44) helped restrict Ilkley to 191 all out in 46 overs, with Rory Kroon (41) and Rob Spivey (39no) leading the way for the visitors after they had been put into bat.

But with Henry Wilson taking 4-20, Steeton were dismissed for just 113 despite the efforts of captain Stephen Pearson (45).

There was more misery for Division Three's bottom two sides Silsden and Upper Wharfedale.

The Cobbydalers elected to bat at Bolton Villas but were dismissed for 81 in 26 overs.

Only Tom Greenwood (31no) offered much resistance as Sam Lawrence (5-40) was chief destroyer.

Villas took only 14 overs to record a nine-wicket win.

Upper Wharfedale's batsmen found things even harder at Olicanian as the bottom side were bowled out for just 45 replying to the hosts' 181 all out.

Tom Smallwood (55) and George Hill (58) were the main contributors as Callum Lockett (5-50) persevered with the ball.
