MEWIES Solicitors Craven League Division One leaders Bingley Congs were in a mean mood on Saturday as they added to the misery of bottom side Cowling at Beckfoot Lane.

The Coliseum outfit were restricted to 59 in 17 overs, with ‘Mr Extras’ top-scoring with 17.

Congs were made to work for the points, however, losing five wickets before winning in only 13.2 overs as Qamar Zaman took 4-40 off seven overs.

Second-placed Crossflatts won by 39 runs at Embsay after the Ryshworth Park visitors made 180-7, with Dom Bennett, who was dropped on seven, making 84 not out and Freddie Maddocks 54 as Sam Arkwright took 3-61.

The latter then made 35 not out to help the Shires Laners to 141-9.

Embsay remain third, with Oakworth and Sutton breathing down their necks a point behind.

Sutton were at next-to-bottom Foulridge and hustled them out for 69, with Justin Holdsworth (6-39) and Richard Walker (3-22) doing the damage. Sam Solley hit 38 in the successful reply of 71-2.

New Division Two leaders Hepworth & Idle, who won by three wickets, were made to scrap for the points at Glusburn.

The Park Field side were restricted to 125-9, with Steve Brown making 37.

There was a terrific tussle down at Airedale, where visitors Bradley lost by one run after conceding 201-4.

Chris Capstick (44), James Heseltine (42) and Casper Bean (38no) took the Matthew Lane side agonisingly close.

Thornton went down by six wickets at home to Ingrow.
