GARY Owens has more reasons than most to wish the season was just starting and not finishing.

His side, Skipton, have hit good form with victory over Adel making it four wins in a row.

Ben Holderness (46) and Pieter Coetzer (43) led the way as Skipton reached 198 with Owens weighing in with a useful 31 before becoming one of Nick Smith’s six victims.

Adel were looking confident at 97-3 when Holderness trapped Tom Harrison lbw.

Owens then took over with a hat-trick in the following over, a wicket in his next and rounding the innings off at 114 with two wickets in two balls, raising the question, if he takes a wicket with his first ball of next season, will it be the longest hat-trick in history?

Otley’s hopes of overhauling Beckwithshaw to win a third successive championship were dashed when the Harrogate side eased to a 91-run win over Collingham.

But Otley finished in some style, Ben Morley (81) and Chris Thompson (63) helping them set a target of 200 before Thompson and Nick Bullock each picked up two cheap wickets in support of James Davies’s stunning 5-8 spell that dismissed North Leeds for 59.

Hall Park clinched the Division Three title with a six-wicket win over Silsden.

Chris Meehan (37) and Shaun Brentnall (43) gave Silsden a solid start but not for the first time this season, Mark McEneaney stepped forward and his 5-61 helped restrict the visitors to 160.

Steve Phillips (48) and Ally Walshaw (45) led the response with McEneaney not out 18 as Park secured the title.

The other two promoted sides had been hoping for a Hall Park slip up so they could claim top spot and both won.

Leeds Modernians made short work of struggling Bardsey but Ed Broadley made Tong Park Esholt work hard for their victory.

Mahir Ali included five maidens in his 2-21 spell and with Will Murray (4-50) and Mick Scott (3-20) restricting Olicanian to 110, in which No7 Tom Smallwood made 58, it looked as though Tong Park Esholt would cruise home.

But then Broadley picked up 7-50 and the home side were glad to get past the post with two wickets in hand.

Luke Pickford followed up a 4-41 spell with a top score of 43 to star in Bolton Villas’ five wicket win at New Rover, while Zarshad Khan (91) and Josh Dracup (4-59) ensured Menston finished the season with a win at Alwoodley, despite the home side’s tail-enders putting on a late flourish.

Green Lane’s season fizzled out with rock bottom Upper Wharfedale conceding before announcing they had resigned from the league – the third club to do so this season. The league has invited clubs from other leagues to apply to take their place

Elsewhere in Division One Byron Boshoff scored 35 to pass 1,000 runs in all competitions and with Gareth Lee making 45, Horsforth looked set for a big score against Rawdon.

But Bradley Reeve (4-64) and Andrew Doidge (3-51) oversaw the loss of six wickets for just 18 runs and it took a stand of 85 from tail-enders Alex Wiggan (20) and Michael Lambert, who hit 59 in 37 balls, to get their side to 203.

Lambert then picked up 5-52 but couldn’t stop Rawdon getting home by two wickets with Andrew Duckworth (34) and Ahmad Raja (30) top scoring.

For the second time this season the meeting between Burley and Steeton was a high scoring affair. Harry Brook (66) and Nick Brook (84) top scored as Burley raced to 355-8, with Andrew Foulds making 87 as Steeton responded with 270-4.

Jake Zjilinszky rounded off an impressive season at Pool with 70 in their 238-6 and even though Jibrael Malik hit an unbeaten 76, Ilkley were still 60 short when they were bowled out.

Guiseley finished their Division Two promotion-winning with a decisive win that ensured that Knaresborough left the league on a losing note.

Robert Butterfield (68) and Joseph Reed (69) top scored in Guiseley’s 259-7 before Marcus Brown (5-18) had the visitors in all kinds of problems before they slumped out for 138.

Robbie Miller (83) was the main contributor to Ben Rhydding’s 210 in which James Roper took 4-65. Relegated Harden never looked like reaching the target and were bowled out for 125 with Alex Miller taking 4-24.

Three cheap wickets each from Henry Barrow and Ricky Palacio restricted Thackley to 130 and put Addingham on the way to a five-wicket win, while Calverley became the latest victims of division champions Colton after being bowled out for 114.
