LAST year’s runner-up Settle and relegated Barnoldswick have made 100 per cent starts to the new Senior Division season.

Settle followed up their opening day win at Brooksbottom with a 14-run victory over Salesbury in a match reduced to 27 overs per side.

Robbie Davidson hit 37, while Laurence Read maintained his good form with 23 from 18 balls.

Pro Imran Khalid was at the heart of the action, his 66 coming at a run a ball as the innings closed at 162-6.

Salesbury were going well in reply until Hassan Fazal claimed a run out and Saud Ahmed bowled pro Susantha Pradeep for 43.

Khalid then spun his way to 4-53 to complete an excellent all-round performance.

Barnoldswick opener Matt Nutter is a man in form. He followed up his century in the derby win over Earby with 80 as his side defeated Read by 100 runs.

The Victory Park side ran up an impressive 299-3 with Abdul Saddique (88) and Umar Saddique (87) joining the run spree.

Read found Barnoldswick’s new South African paceman Kyle Marshall in hot form when they replied. He took 5-91 as his side bowled out their opponents.

A maiden half-century by James Holgate could not prevent defeat for Settle seconds at Ribblesdale Wanderers.

The hosts had put on 195-7, with Ben Mitchell and Simon Tarbox picking up two wickets apiece, before Holgate (56) and skipper Kieren Ashley (28) set about the reply, but Settle fell short at 170-9.

There was much better news on Sunday at Feniscowles as brothers Thomas and Daniel Strickland hit 46 and 42 respectively to rally the seconds after an early fall of wickets in their Lawrenson Cup tie.

Ashley weighed in down the order with 48 runs to leave the visitors on 219-8. He then returned figures of 2-16 backed up by John Tarbox’s 3-14 as the hosts finished 82 runs adrift.
