THE weather was the big winner with most of the games being washed out at the halfway stage but there was time for three centuries to be scored and two seven-wicket hauls to be secured.

Crossflatts, third in Division One, were on course for victory when their game at Cowling was washed out.

They dismissed the home side for just 90 as Vikram Bakshi picked up 5-13, and were 49-0 after just seven overs when play was abandoned.

Sutton are fourth after they drew with Oakworth at Royd Hill. After the opening of their new pavilion on Friday, they played their first “home” game of the season on their own ground.

Oakworth were dismissed for 115 after finding Richard Walker (6-34) a real handful. Only an unbeaten 48 from Brannan Lawn spare the defending champions from a lower score. The rain prevented a Sutton reply.

Muhammad Zahir scored 78 as Haworth Road totalled 169-8 against Embsay who were 49-2 at the close.

Glusburn's Nick Williamson was in cracking form in Division Two as he made a super 108 which was backed up by Mark Johnson (88) and Matt Lloyd (44) in a total of 292-7 against Ingrow St John's who didn't have the chance to reply.

There was a nail-biter at Matthew Lane where Bradley overcame Chatburn by three wickets in a low-scoring game.

Chatburn's normally free-scoring batting crumbled as they plunged to 21-6. Andy Booth (27) and Ashley Bennett (20) put on 41 for the seventh wicket before the innings closed on 80.

Bennett certainly led a charmed life as he was dropped seven times and the ball even hit his wicket without dislodging a bail. John Duffey (4-23) and 14-year-old Frank Watkinson (3-19) took the bowling honours.

The home side collapsed to 46-6 before John Drake (17no) and Vince Grant (11) edged them towards their first victory of the season despite the efforts of Lockley (4-42) and Andy Booth (3-35).

Gargrave's Harry McEneaney took 7-20 as Bingley Congs II were dismissed for 104. John Beckwith hit an unbeaten 45 as Embsay raced to 54-3 in just six overs, but the weather thwarted their victory hopes.

Cononley’s Herbie Starkey blasted a magnificent 120 - 13 fours eight sixes - as his side reached 200-6 in 31.3 overs before declaring.

Visitors Denholme II were hustled out for 96 with Josh Wheatley (47) being the only batter in double figures. Starkey took 4-6 to complete as memorable individual performance while Matthew Phillips took 3-19.

Crossflatts made 154 with Mick Bailey scoring 69 against Skipton CI whose best bowler was John Stuttard 3-35.

It was a similar story at Shires Lane where visitors Bradford & Bingley III were restricted to 116 by Embsay's Simon Holt (5-31) and 16-year-old Tom Robinson (4-17).

Cononley II had No 9 Jim Outhwaite 44 to thank for them reaching 139 in their Division Four clash with Bingley Congs III. Ben Nattrass claimed 4-40 and Matthew Brian (3-5).

Ingrow II were restricted to 116 against Gargrave II but it proved sufficient as they cruised to a 59-run win. Rob Storr (5-24) and Tony Spensley (5-43) bowled well for Gargrave while Dale Hoyle (4-28) and Liam Whitney (4-11) led the Ingrow victory push.

George Bell contributed 50 to Bradley II 124-7 against Skipton CI II at Sandylands. The home side eased to a six-wicket win with William Shuttleworth and Bruce Woodhouse both scoring 40no.

Evergreen Bryan Hollis took 7-22 for Glusburn as Haworth II were dismissed for 107. Glusburn II, were 47-4 when play was called off.

The Chattas, Aqib (4-28) and Yasser (3-40) were among the wickets for Cowling II against Long Lee II. The weather proved to be the winner as it cut short Cowling's reply to Long Lee's 173-9 when they had made 25-1.

Ben Stowell top scored with 32 as Long Lee II posted 173-9 at Golden View as Aqib Chatta claimed 4-28 and Yasser Chatta 3-40. Visitors Cowling II replied with 25-1.

Finally there was no play possible between Chatburn II and Sutton II due to a waterlogged pitch after a torrential downpour.
