THE First Division is boiling up very nicely in the Mewies Solicitors Craven League.

With just five games to go (four for some teams due to Riddlesden's withdrawal) any one of five teams could snatch the title.

Ingrow St John's, leaders by one point, floundered at home to Bingley Congs, losing by 115 runs.

The Beckfoot Lane side made 171, led by Sam Porter (45) and Neil Copping (38) as Naveed Hussain claimed 3-53.

The Saints were then blasted out for 56, with Matt Roberts (7-28) ripping through their batting, aided by Neil Copping (3-25) Embsay move into second after they beat Hepworth & Idle and Sutton lost at home to Haworth Road Meths.

The Shires Lane side made a modest 110, with Haroon Ali (31) top scoring as Dave McDermott (4-36) and Jonathan Thompson (3-24) took the bowling honours.

The Westfield Lane side were restricted to 88 in reply, with Gary Sagar making 28 as Sam Arkwright took 5-24 and Elliot Stockton 3-26.

At Royd Hill, Haworth Road rattled up 189, with Aftab Khan (47), Goher Ayoub (32) and Zahir Abbas (31) leading the way as Zafar Iqbal took 3-29.

The reply was never on track, however, and closed on 134, with Chris Barrett (28) top scoring as Mohammad Zahid took 5-27.

Crossflatts won a low-scoring game at Denholme.

The hosts made 74, with Will McLaughlan (5-35) and Alex Bradbury (3-15) doing the damage.

In the reply, the Ryshworth Park side were 55-7 before Joe Lynch (22no) and Chris Vollentine (6no) saw them to the winning post.

Haworth made the short journey to Oakworth and came away with the points, winning by eight wickets in a 32 overs per side game.

Jordan Powell (25 off nine balls) saw the Wide Lane men to 101 as Damian Rowell took 5-18 and Jamie Rowell 3-9.

The West Laners got home with one ball to spare, with Peter Gower making 43 not out from 104 balls and Dan Trowers 22 not out.

Division Two leaders Haworth Road II were in their pomp when Chatburn came calling.

The Baildon Bottom side amassed 222-7, with Paul Rodwell (70), Matthew Hall (68) and Waj Mahmood (53) the main contributors.

The Ribble Valley side replied with 158-9, with Jonny Lockley (35) top scoring as Andy Maude took 3-25 and under-16 Tom Kaznowski 3-42.

Wilsden are second, just two points behind.

They entertained bottom side Oakworth II and walloped 259, with Sam Holdsworth (65) and Doug Richardson (41) leading the way as Thomas Fothergill took 3-68.

The ten-man Wide Lane side replied with 99, Steve Powell (45) top scoring as Paul Kirby took 3-5 and Doug Richardson 3-33.

Ingrow are third after just holding on to beat Sandy Lane by five runs at Hainworth.

There was a ding-dong affair at Glusburn, where Ingrow St John’s II were the visitors.

Saints went first and were indebted to a superb knock of 121 not out, including 12 fours and seven sixes, by Sarum Qureshi in their 224-8, aided by 31 from Reese Hussain, with Mohammed Furqan taking 3-42.

In reply, James Tillotson (33) and Matthew Lloyd put on 79 for the first wicket.

The latter was joined by skipper Steve Brown, and they added 111 for the second wicket.

Lloyd finished on 78 and Brown 87 not out as they galloped home by six wickets.

The games between Cowling and Long Lee and Foulridge and Airedale were abandoned without a ball being bowled.

The battle for the Division Three crown shows no sign of slacking.

Both leaders Cononley and Gargrave, who are a point behind, triumphed in low-scoring matches.

Cononley were at Sandylands and struggled to 118 in the soft conditions, Andy Starkey top- scoring with 33 as Robb Cockell took 4-41.

Skipton CI were then dismissed for 64, with Anthony Haigh (4-13) and Matthew Phillips (3-10) doing most of the damage.

Gargrave entertained Embsay II, who are in free fall.

They were shot out for 59 in the 43rd over, with John Beckwith taking 3-5 and Stuart Weatherill 3-20.

The Skipton Road side lost four wickets in reaching their target.

Thornton did their chances of avoiding relegation no harm as they beat fellow strugglers Sandy Lane II by six wickets.

Mark Laycock (4-35 and 25no) was the star of the show.

Bradley slipped up at Wagon Lane.

They were shot out for 103, with No 9 Vince Grant top-scoring with 26 as Stephen Timperley claimed 6-15.

Jack Dean made 42 as Eldwick & Gilstead sauntered home by nine wickets.

The derby between Bingley Congs II and Bradford & Bingley III went the way of the former by 47 runs.

Rick Andrews (52) and Tony Teale (30) helped the Beckfoot side to 152 as under-13 Reece Cockshott took 4-15.

Adam Swallow (35) led the reply of 105, with Steve Broughton taking 3-15.

Barrowford II rattled up 200 as they entertained Riddlesden, with Hamid Bakhsh (51) and Andy Makin (48) leading the way as Dale Pinkerton took 3-27.

The Grange Road side were knocked over for 41 in their reply, with Mohammed Zulfiqar taking 4-12 and Arsalaan Ali 3-21.

Sutton II are three points clear at the top of Division Four A.

They dismissed hosts Haworth II for 122, of which Will Yildiz made 26 as George Blackwell took 4-19 and Tony Walton 3-32.

Andrew Fountain (39) was they mainstay of the reply of 124-3.

Second-placed Crossflatts II saw off Denholme II by six wickets at Ryshworth Park.

The ten-man Bradford Road side made 76, with wicket-keeper Callum Gerrard (44) the only batter to reach double figures as Michael Bailey (3-8) and Bryan Freimanis (3-9) did most of the damage.

Mick Brooksbank (30) led the home side to the points.

Chris Gill (6-26 and 41no) was the star of Airedale II's six-wicket victory over Skipton CI II at Bradford Road.

In the Ribble Valley, Suhban Ahmad bowled superbly to finish with 8-33 as Chatburn were dismissed for 67, with 'Mr Extras' (25) top scoring as no batter reached double figures.

Visitors Foulridge II then came up six runs short of their target, with Josh Dean taking 4-24 and Dan Kellington 3-15.

Cowling II conceded their game to Hepworth & Idle II.

Division Four B leaders Silsden’s game with Wilsden II was called off when the Windy Grove side couldn’t raise a side.

The Keighley Road side now need just one more point to be claimed champions.

Second-placed Ingrow, who are 14 points behind the leaders, beat nine-man Oakworth III by 156 runs.

Under-16 Frank Watkinson (28) and under-14 Thomas Eaglesfield (21), batting at nine and ten respectively, helped Bradley II to 154 at Matthew Lane, with Andy Love (3-30) and Yvonne Baines (3-44) being the best bowlers.

Visitors Bingley Congs III were hustled out for 44, with Watkinson taking 4-14 and Jack Andrews 3-9.

Gargrave II lost by four wickets in a low-scoring game at Cononley II.

Simon Frost hit a super 104, including 13 fours and five sixes, as Glusburn II rattled up 209-8 at Long Lee II, with Jack Kennedy and Matt Mounsey taking three wickets apiece.

The Golden View side replied with 77 as Josh Banks took 5-32.
