Oakworth take over at the top

Whilst the weather had a say in proceedings the sad fact is that five teams had to concede their games because they couldn’t raise a side.

Among the fixtures to fall victim to the rain was leaders Cullingworth’s match at Cowling.

That enabled Oakworth to take over at the top after a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Haworth at Cure Hill.

Damian Rowell rescued Haworth from 99-6 with a timely 83 to take their total to 165-8. Matt House claimed 4-47 for Oakworth.

Skipper Joel Gallagher (78no) and Paul Spragg (73no) put on 134 for the third wicket as Oakworth got home with nine overs to spare.

Haworth Road consolidated third spot, and at the same time added to Bradley’s relegation woes, by beating them by five wickets at Baildon Bottom.

Michael Clarkson (45) and Neil Andrews (42) helped the South Craveners to 177 as M Adil took 5-50.

The home side got home in the 31st over thanks to Chris Griggs (54), Waj Mahmood (47) and Adil (45no).

Bingley Congs are fourth after seeing off Barrowford at Beckfoot Lane.

Barrowford made a modest 139-8 with Matt Clark hitting 58 as Adie Dibb took 4-41.

Chris Dibb made an unbeaten 51 to lead Congs to victory.

Thornton easily accounted for champions Crossflatts at Booth Bridge Lane.

Openers Rob Foster (52) and Dave Scothern (35) were the backbone of the West Craveners 168-8 in a 27 over per side game.

Crossflatts were never in the hunt and crashed to 55 all out in the 21st over.

Only Mick Brooksbank (28) offered much resistance as Mark Paxton took 5-22 and paceman Jack Laycock (5-29).

Embsay got three welcome points when they beat Cononley by six wickets at Shires Lane. The visitors battled their way to 136 with Charles Calvert leading the way with 55no as Scott Robinson took 5-51 and Lloyd Davies (3-34).

Davies then top scored with 46 to go with Duncan Ward’s unbeaten 45 which saw them to the spoils in the 21st over. Sadly that means relegation for Cononley.

Airedale are now eleven points clear at the top of the Division Two after a good win over at Chatburn.

The Ribble Valley side posted 154 with Neil Cartledge top scoring with 46 as Nadeem Zaman (4-54) and H Aslam (4-63) did the damage with the ball.

Despite John Lockley taking 4-68 and Ben Threlfall (3-52) Airedale got home by three wickets with seven balls to spare.

Matthew Cox led the way with 39 and Paul Feather made 31no.

Ingrow took over second spot after they narrowly saw off Glusburn by 14 runs at Hainworth.

Skipper Mark Price hit a sparkling 123 not out which helped Ingrow to 216-3 in their overs. Alex Horsfield (61) and M Desgranges (57) kept the Park File side interested.

However wickets tumbled and they were all out for 202, with Mark Pennington claiming 4-33.

Sandy Lane dropped to third after losing at Wilsden by five wickets.

A Blackburn made 74no as Sandy Lane reached 138-7 in a game reduced to 32 overs per side.

Steve Wright (57) and J Greenwood (45) saw Wilsden to the points with just three balls to spare.

Sutton are fourth after seeing off Foulridge at Royd Hill by two wickets.

Foulridge made 157 with Chris Gildea hitting 52 as Ben Bolland took 7-31 in 10.3 overs.

The home side was wobbling at 43-5 before A Raza (41) and Andy Kay (50) pulled things round and they nervously got home. Riddlesden’s Nasser Kamal took advantage of Long Lee’s generosity to make 110 out of their 172-9.

He was dropped before scoring and then another four times. Kenny Sejake finished with 3-32.

The Golden Acre side closed 28 runs short. Two run out didn’t help their cause as Matt Taylor top scored with 41.

Nick Daniel and Andy Townsend both took 5-42 to help Pendle Forest beat Embsay II by nine wickets in their basement battle at Fence.

M Taylor made 69 of the 89 runs that were needed for victory.

Oakworth II and Ingrow St John’s continue to dominate Division Three.

Leaders Oakworth II were again in top form at Glusburn II and they rattled up 220-2 declared in their innings. Ben Fothergill (105no) and Brannan Lawn (103no) put on 205 for the third wicket.

The reply was languishing on 96-8 before number nine batsman James Macdonald hit 42 to bring some respectability to the score of 149 all out.

Ingrow St John’s plundered 199 at Gargrave with M Shahnawaz making 57 as John Beckwith took 4-46 and Tom Cowburn (4-51).

Peter Cowburn made 37 and Lee Barrett (36) as the home side replied with 150-9.

Denholme rattled up 211-9 at Cullingworth II with Rob Taylor scoring a fine 93.

The Roydwood Terrace side were 107-7 in reply before Gary Todd (57no) and Russell Hogg (40no) swept them to the points.

There was no play between Eldwick & Gilstead and Haworth Road II or Crossflatts II and Haworth WE.

Cononley II are relegated after they were unable to field against Skipton CI and had to concede the points.
