EMBSAY professional Pete Williams has been signed up by the new cycling team that is part owned by England cricketer Matt Prior.

ONE Pro Cycling, who will be competing at UCI Continental level in 2015, two levels below the likes of Team Sky

Williams, who was 28 last week, has had an injury-dogged 2014 after suffering a bad shoulder injury racing for Haribo-Beacon last Spring.

The new deal is a big boost for Williams who won the Green Jersey as the top sprinter in the 2012 Tour of Britain and was on the brink of retaining it in 2013 until he was disqualified on the final stage.

Williams said: “I am looking forward to working with Matt Prior, a household name in sport. It's a great environment and opportunity to move forward after a difficult season affected by injury.

“Hopefully I will get the chance to race the biggest races in the UK next year, including the Tour De Yorkshire scheduled for early May, which the team will be seeking an invite to.”

ONE Pro Cycling will be officially launched in February when it is expected to reveal who its sponsors and partners are.

“I heard whispers about the new team before the end of the season and I was delighted when I was asked to be a part of it. I know a number of the management from previous teams I have raced for and the Polish rider Marcin Bialoblocki is an old team-mate,” said Williams.
