CROSS Hills bowls player Andrew Tate continued his love affair with the Craven green when he won the recent 32 competition organised by the home club.
He comfortably beat the Sowerby Bridge veteran John Hamer 21-15 on a sunny but cold day in Skipton. Losing in the semis were Derek Seed of Settle and Steve Winterburn of Garforth, while also in the money were Nigel Breadley, Len Buxton, David Hemsley and Matty Simpson.
This Sunday (9.30am) sees the last eight teams go to post in the Silsden BC four-person team event. Qualifying games are still ongoing but early winners are teams from Skipton, Guiseley and Bradford.
* Silsden Playing Fields are mourning the sudden death of club stalwart Hughie Gallagher. He will be remembered for supporting the team in his famous white jumper. Condolences go to his family.
